About deterioration prediction method
- How do you predict deterioration?
-
Based on water pipe data (year of installation, pipe type, diameter, location information, etc.) and water leakage data received from business entities, and an environmental database that we have collected and constructed ourselves, we use machine learning algorithms to assess the deterioration of water pipes. predict.
- How do you collect environmental data?
-
It is mainly collected from open sources provided by government offices, research institutions, etc. Fracta has independently constructed a huge amount of environmental data (population, soil, rivers, transportation networks, etc.).
- Is the environment database already built?
-
We have already constructed data that covers all of the United States, with the exception of some regions.
About accuracy and verification methods
- How do you verify accuracy?
-
We use a method called time-shift study to verify the model. Specifically, we divided the received water leakage data (e.g. 10 years from 2010-2020) into training data (2010-2018) and verification data (2018-2020), and utilized the learning data. Build a model and predict deterioration. We compare pipes that are predicted to have a high degree of deterioration with the above verification data, and conduct verification from the perspective of how much leakage that actually occurred was captured. In addition to the above, we are also collating diagnosis results with pipe investigation results, as well as comparing them with water leaks that occurred after diagnosis.
About the functions
- Is there a filtered search or display function for piping?
-
You can use the filter function by water leak risk level, installation year, pipe type, diameter, and past water leak history.
- Will data update history remain?
-
Currently, the update history is not updated, but there is a possibility that the function will be updated in the future.
About the scope of deterioration prediction
- Is it possible to diagnose water supply pipes as well?
-
This is possible if you have water supply pipe line data (installation year, pipe type, diameter, etc.) and water leakage data.
- Can accessories such as valves be diagnosed?
-
At present, we are only diagnosing the pipe itself, but we are considering it in order to respond to customer requests.
- Can it be used for sewerage water?
-
Regarding sewage systems, in 2021 we received cooperation from Otsu City in Japan, and we worked on verification in collaboration with EY (Ernst & Young). Based on the results, we have entered the implementation stage.
About costs
- What is the fee structure?
-
We will provide you with an estimate based on the length of the pipeline and the status of the data. Please contact us individually for details.
About implementation results
- What is the implementation track record?
-
We started the pilot test in 2017, and as of January 2025, we have been adopted by over 150 municipalities worldwide
What you need before introduction
- What data is required for implementation?
-
If you can provide basic water piping data (year of installation, pipe type, diameter, length, location information, etc.) and past water leakage history data (leak point, cause of leak, year of installation, pipe type, diameter, etc.) , you can use our deterioration prediction solution.
- Is it possible to digitize piping data and water leakage data?
-
It’s possible. We will provide you with a quote after understanding your data management situation.
- Can I connect it to my company’s existing system?
-
We provide it in shp file, csv, etc. formats so that it can be viewed with existing mapping systems.
About after implementation
- What kind of follow-up is available?
-
Our specialized staff will be happy to assist you with how to use online tools.
- Do you do any planning work?
-
Although we do not do this ourselves, we have experience in formulating plans with partner companies.
